Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger announced today that all retail stores throughout Hamilton County can open Wednesday, April 29th, with specific guidelines.
The Hamilton County Health Department will open retail stores based on the authority delegated by Governor Bill Lee in his Tennessee Pledge, released last Friday.
All retail stores shall comply with the guidelines found in the "Tennessee Pledge: Reopening Tennessee Responsibly" document, found on Hamilton County's

Health Department Clarifies Restaurant Reopenings for Both Owners and Patrons
HAMILTON COUNTY, TN – The Hamilton County Health Department would like to insure that both local restaurants and consumers have the information they need to navigate safely the reopening of Hamilton County restaurants. The Health Department is following the recommendations provided by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and supported by Hamilton County Jim Coppinger.

Gov. Lee signs Executive Order 29- reopening dine-in restaurants on Monday, April 27
Friday evening, Gov. Bill Lee signed Executive Order 29, amending Executive Order 17, allowing dine-in restaurants to begin reopening with certain restrictions, as found in the Gov’s Tennessee Pledge economic recovery guidance (See below). This order does include Hamilton County and the city of Chattanooga. Bars, nightclubs, and limited service restaurants shall continue to be closed to persons for the purposed of eating or drinking on-site. Take-out and delivery of alcohol remains permitted.
